Ioannis Ioannou is a Melbourne based filmmaker.
He is a graduate of the Film and Television
School of the Victorian College of the Arts,
Melbourne, Australia. In 1994 his graduation
short film, "Nine lives", won best direction
(video). The independent dance film "Nocturne"
was exhibited at the Brisbane gallery of Modern
Art which was also screened at Brisbane and
Hobart international short film
festival.
His first documentary was "Panacea" and was
commissioned by the Australian Cinema of moving
Images. "Greeks of Australia" was commissioned
by La Trobe University, Melbourne. The film was
shown in 2004 at the Athens University as part
of an international forum.
As a Director of photography and Editor Ioannis has collaborated with choreographers and other directors. Some of the films have screened nationally and internationally, including at the Melbourne International Film Festival, New York and Hamburg - Germany. He has also worked in post-production houses as Director and Editor on corporate and educational programs. The photography section contains a selection of his most recent photographs with some samples from 1980 onwards.
The Art section shows a range of his styles with media – digital, oil painting, drawing and graphic design.
